Hello! It’s Thursday which means it’s almost Friday and almost the weekend 🙂 🙂 — I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend and were able to relax, hang out with family and friends, and officially kick off the beginning of summer!!
My weekend revolved around going to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and I loved it!! Here is a recap:
Josh and I spent the day at the track. I don’t have many pictures from Carb Day, but we ran into a lot of people we knew and had a blast.
My sister and I went to the Broad Ripple Farmer’s Market. We wanted Ted to partake in Indy 500 festivities so we bought him this treat from Three Dog Bakery. The rest of the day Josh and I cleaned the house and worked in the yard.
RACE DAY! We woke up at 5AM and headed to the track. This beautiful sunrise greeted us and we didn’t have to wait too long to drive in to Turn 3. We had a blast, but I think I’m ready to have real seats in the stands next year! Does that mean I’m old? We sat in traffic for a long time on the way home, but Mexican food and ice cream were consumed for dinner. We were in bed before 10PM.
My favorite part of the race is the beginning when they do the veteran salute, military march, and sing the National Anthem. Soldiers even rappelled from a helicopter to deliver the green flag! It’s a good reminder of what Memorial Day is all about — remembering and honoring those who have died while serving and protecting our nation. The pre-race festivities always give me goosebumps and a lump in my throat!
Josh and I slept in and then I met my brother and sister at Patachou for breakfast. I had an omelet and their amazing cinnamon toast. Later in the afternoon we went to my cousin Margaret’s high school graduation party and then picked Ted up from daycare where he spent the weekend playing with friends. We grabbed Thai for dinner with some of my high school besties and then went to bed early!
Overall it was a great weekend and the perfect way to kickoff summer 🙂
